An international scientific conference titled "Modern Education and Science: History, Future" was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Department of Pedagogy and Education Management.

The event was attended by scientists, representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, university rectors, as well as professors, teachers, doctoral students, master's students, and young researchers.

A book and painting exhibition was organized for the participants, and a video dedicated to the history of the formation and activities of the Department of Pedagogy and Educational Management was presented. During the plenary session, the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science, Bekzhan Meirbayev, acted as the moderator. During the conference, a congratulatory letter from the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, was read.

The Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Zhanseit Tuymebaev, in his congratulatory letter to the conference participants, highlighted the special merits and significant contributions of the faculty and professors of the Department of Pedagogy and Management in the development of Kazakhstani education and science, as well as in the training of specialists.

"The tradition of studying the history of pedagogical thought and education, established by our outstanding scholars, continues to this day. Their followers contribute to the development of the department. Without a doubt, the foundation for strengthening the sovereignty of the country lies in the preparation of highly qualified specialists",- noted the rector of KazNU in his congratulatory letter.

The history of the department began in 1937 when the Pedagogy Cabinet was established, headed by S. Kozhametov (1910–1945). On January 12, 1940, the cabinet was transformed into an independent Department of Pedagogy, which later became the Department of General and Ethnic Pedagogy, and subsequently the Department of Pedagogy and Education Management within the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science at KazNU. Over the years, the department was led by scholars and prominent figures who made significant contributions to the development of pedagogical science. Among them were Sultanbek Kozhametov, Shakir Kokymbaev, Tolegen Tazhibayev, Abdikhamit Sembaev, Kartbay Berzhanov, Khasen Arginov, and others.

As part of the conference, speeches were delivered by the rector of Naberezhnye Chelny State Pedagogical University, Alfinur Galiakberova, the rector of L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Erlan Sydykov, the Chairman of the Board – Rector of Western Kazakhstan Innovative and Technological University, Bekbulat Shakeshev, as well as other university leaders, foreign and domestic academicians, scientists, and professors, both offline and online. It is worth noting that over the years, the department has trained thousands of specialists who have become role models for future generations and laid the foundations for domestic pedagogical science.

The work of the international conference continued within the framework of various sections, where participants discussed trends in the development of higher education in Kazakhstan, issues of innovation in modern pedagogy and psychology, as well as continuity between schools and higher education in the context of inclusive education. A roundtable discussion was also held on the topic "Scientific Research in the Preparation of National Personnel: History and Prospects". During the event, participants exchanged experiences and shared information about the work of the Department of Pedagogy and Education Management at KazNU, as well as fundamental and applied research in the fields of science and education.
