The results of the winter exam session have been summarized

At the meeting of the Academic Council of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the results of the winter exam session and the implementation of the indicative plan for the first half of the 2024–2025 academic year were summarized.
The Board Member and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Altai Kazmagambetov, reported on the results of the winter exam session. To date, the overall pass rate for the university's bachelor's programs has shown consistently high dynamics compared to last year, reaching 88%. The Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science leads with a 96% pass rate, followed by the Faculty of Geography and Nature Management. The third place is shared by the Faculties of Oriental Studies and History, as well as the Graduate School of Economics and Business. The Graduate School of Economics and Business, along with the Medical and Law Faculties, achieved a 100% pass rate in the master's programs. Second place is shared by the Faculties of Geography and Nature Management, History, and Journalism, with a 99% pass rate. The Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science closes the list of leaders with a 98% pass rate.
To improve academic performance, deans have been instructed to analyze exam tasks, investigate cases of students using artificial intelligence, organize training for teaching staff on the use of AI in the educational process, and take other measures.
The Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, noted that in the future, the number of places in the master's and doctoral programs at the research university will be increased. He also instructed the deans to ensure the quality of education, scientific work, and preparation for dissertation defense.
An important topic on the university's position in rankings and the results of the implementation of the indicative plan for the first half of the 2024–2025 academic year was highlighted by the Director of the Strategic Development Center, Gulzira Vasilina. She presented the outcomes of the analysis of faculty activities regarding the implementation of the indicative indicators to the academic council. These indicators reflect the faculty's activities in the following areas: educational and methodological work, scientific research and innovation, socio-educational work, and the reputational evaluation by academic experts and employer experts.
It should be noted that, in accordance with the rector's instructions, the university has strengthened its efforts to improve its position in international rankings, such as the QS World University Rankings by Subject, the national NPP "Atameken," and others. As a result, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University ranks 163rd in the QS World University Rankings for 2025.
At the beginning of the academic year, the rector instructed the vice-rectors to ensure the coordination of activities in international and national rankings, as well as to take concrete steps to achieve the planned values of the indicative plan indicators for the 2024-2025 academic year across various areas of activity.
In conclusion, Rector Zhanseit Tuimebayev emphasized that the efforts aimed at advancing the university in international rankings are of strategic importance, and therefore, it is essential to give them the necessary attention at all levels, while intensifying the work in this area.
