On March 1, 2025, Kanat Bakhtiyarovich Ashirkulov, a lecturer at the Department of Turkology and Language Theory, held an event with the first-year students of the "Turkology" major in honor of crlrbrating Thanksgiving Day.
The students were provided with information about the significance of this day, the history of Thanksgiving Day, and the period when it began to be celebrated as an official holiday. Gratitude is an expression of appreciation for a person’s kindness, help, and care, as well as a way to acknowledge their good deeds. The lecturer emphasized the importance of not hesitating to express kind words, perform good deeds, and share sincere feelings, encouraging students to use the sacred word "Thank you" more often. He reminded them that hearing gratitude and appreciation inspires people to do even more good.
The discussion also highlighted that gratitude should not only be expressed to individuals but the first and foremost to parents, teachers, loved ones, friends, and those around us. The event emphasized that expressing gratitude should not be limited to Thanksgiving Day but should be a daily practice. Students exchanged warm wishes with each other.
During the event, a quiz dedicated to Thanksgiving Day was organized. The most knowledgeable and the quick-thinking students stood out during the quiz. The event concluded with the student’ performances featuring traditional Kazakh kyuis on the dombra and singing.
