Round table theme: Scientific and Practical Round Table on European Union Law and Its Application

On February 26, 2025, in line with the implementation of UN Sustainable Development Goal 16, a scientific and practical round table was held on the topic “European Union Law and Its Application”. The event was organized by the Center for European Law and Social Sciences at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The official part of the round table was opened by Associate Professor Zh.T. Sairambayev, Dean of the Faculty of International Relations at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Candidate of Law. Welcoming remarks were also delivered by Professor Pierre Chabal, Director of the Center for European Law and Social Sciences (France) and Professor at the University of Le Havre, as well as PhD Associate Professor K.Zh. Altaeva, Head of the Department of International Law at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The event brought together leading scholars and experts in international law, including professors from Turan University and Almaty Management University, as well as master’s students specializing in International Law at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and a master's student from the Institute of Political Studies of France.
During the discussions, participants presented comparative legal analyses of various aspects of the European Union’s legal system, with a focus on:
- Protection of citizens' rights under EU law
- Contemporary issues in tax law, including double taxation regulation
- Legal frameworks for space activities
- Challenges and prospects of digitalization regulation
- Mechanisms for personal data protection in the EU
- Environmental law and its role in sustainable development
Particular interest was drawn to discussions on the legal regulation of the digital economy, the harmonization of tax legislation within the EU, and cross-border personal data protection. The round table served as a valuable platform for scientific exchange and contributed to fostering academic and practical cooperation between domestic and international experts in European law.
