Gender equality and future specialists: equal opportunities in higher education and career

On March 7, 2025, within the framework of scientific and pedagogical practice under the guidance of PhD of the Department of Biology and Biotechnology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Narmuratova Zh., 1st year doctoral students of the specialty "8D05111 – Microbiology" and "8D05105–Biotechnology" of the Department of Biotechnology Asylbekkyzy L., Rakhmetova Ya., Dinanova N., an open educational hour "Gender equality and future specialists: equal opportunities in higher education and career". This educational hour was held at the Kazakh National Research Technical University named after K. Satpayeva for 3rd year students of the specialty "Biotechnology". 

The main purpose of the educational hour is to ensure equal rights for men and women, eliminate all forms of discrimination and violence against women and girls. During the educational event, the importance of providing quality education with equal rights, the possibilities of gender inequality in Kazakhstan were discussed, and students shared their thoughts on the topic.

During the educational hour, it was noted that gender equality is equal access to resources for women and men, dignity and integrity of the individual. Regardless of the industry, gender equality promotes economic growth and innovation and provides equal rights and opportunities to all citizens. Therefore, gender equality is a step towards a fair and sustainable future for Kazakhstan. As a result of the educational hour, the students formulated the idea that the formation of a sustainable, just society is a victory for gender equality.
