Excursion of the 4th year bachelors of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology to the laboratory of Oilsert International LLP - a contribution to the professional training of chemists to ensure the implementation of UN SDGs No. 4, 8, 9

The most important task of chemist training is the maximum integration of educational and professional activities, involvement of students in professional (practical) activities. For students of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology the main mechanism, which is assigned the function of increasing professionalism, is practical training in laboratory conditions. Practical training fulfils important functions in the system of professional training of Bachelors of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology: theoretical knowledge is updated, deepened and strengthened. The training of future professionals is in line with the UN SDGs: SDG 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all; SDG 8: Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all; SDG 9: Build strong infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation and innovation. Supervisors of internship are constantly monitoring the presence of students in laboratories, consultations, face-to-face and online meetings, as well as (if there is an opportunity for students to distract from the experiment) - the organisation of excursions to laboratories operating at production facilities. For example, we organised a trip of bachelor students to ‘Oilsert International’ LLP (Almaty). Oilsert International LLP is the first independent domestic company specialising in testing and confirmation of conformity of products, an independent expert in assessment and control of quality indicators of export-import operations in the oil and gas industry. The main activity is certification, control and arbitration testing for compliance with the requirements of national, interstate and international standards, technical regulations of the Eurasian Union. The students listened to an interesting lecture and were shown the operation of the devices. Bachelors-practitioners asked a lot of questions, demonstrating good theoretical preparation. Maybe in the near future some graduate of our faculty will get a job as an employee of this wonderful laboratory.
