"Inequality Around Us: Do We See It?" Within the Framework of SDG 10 "Reduced Inequalities"

On March 13, 2025, master’s degree student in Translation Studies, Ainur Yermekkyzy, conducted an educational event as a part of her teaching practice for the third-year students of Foreign Philology major. The event topic was "Inequality Around Us: Do We See It?" within the framework of SDG 10 "Reduced Inequalities." The senior lecturer of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies, L.B. Nagiyatova, also participated in the event.
During the event, social inequality was emphasized to manifest itself in various spheres of life and it can be both explicit and hidden. The suggestions for analyzing modern challenges related to inequality were proposed, and possible ways to overcome them were discussed. The students explored key aspects of social, economic, and educational discrimination, as well as the impact of these factors at both global and local levels. A special attention was given to the accessibility of opportunities for different social groups, the role of education in reducing inequality, and mechanisms for achieving greater social justice. The discussion included examples from international experience and daily life, along with an analysis of relevant terms and concepts related to the issue. The students actively participated in the discussion, shared their opinions, and proposed possible solutions to reduce the social gap. The event was conducted in Kazakh, Russian, and English.
