The competition among the students of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science within the framework of SDG 4: Quality Education

28 march, 2025

National games are mostly shaped by the socio-economic conditions of each nation. Most Kazakh national games are based on playing with natural objects. Since livestock farming was the primary occupation of the Kazakh people, their national games were also adapted accordingly. In particular, due to the widespread breeding of sheep, many children’s games are associated with playing with asyks (knucklebones). Therefore, asyk games are among the oldest national games. Playing asyk from an early age helps strengthen the nervous system, develop precision, patience, and composure. There were different variations of this game that could be played by both young children and the elderly.

So  within the framework of SDG 4: Quality Education   the lecturers of the Department of Foreign Languages  decided to organize an asyk game competition  among the students of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science (FFPS). On March 28, 2025, an asyk atu (knucklebone shooting) game was held with the participation of FFPS students. The students actively and enthusiastically took part in the event, and those who successfully knocked the asyk out of the circle received chocolate as a prize. Additionally, in  the honor of  celebrating  Nauryz,  the students were offered naurız köje (traditional festive soup) and baursak (fried dough pastries). The event concluded with the “Qara Jorga” dance.
