"Modern Society and Kazakh Traditions" national-themed event

20 march, 2025

On March 20, 2025,  the first-year master's degree  students of  the "Foreign Philology" major, Bekmyrzakyzy Anar and Abdussalamova Gulnaz, conducted a curator’s hour on the topic:  "Modern Society and Kazakh Traditions" as a  part of their pedagogical practice. The event was held in a national-themed format for  the third-year students of "Foreign Philology"  major under the supervision of curator Gulsima Dayrabekova. The event aimed at  discussing  the role of Kazakh traditions in modern society, assessing  their significance, and considering  whether they should be preserved in their original form or adapted to contemporary realities.

The curatorial hour was held in a debate format with interactive elements.  The students were divided into two groups to discuss the importance of Kazakh customs and traditions in today's world. One group argued for preserving traditions in their original form, while the other supported their adaptation to modern circumstances. The discussion covered topics such as the value of traditions and national identity, the impact of globalization on Kazakh culture, and ways to maintain cultural heritage.

Additionally, an interactive game was organized.  The participants described Kazakh customs without naming them, and the opposing team had to guess and explain their meaning. This activity helped increase student engagement and deepen their understanding of Kazakh traditions.

At the end of the session, the organizers praised the students for their active participation and interest in the topic, emphasizing that understanding the connection between tradition and modernity is essential for every young person. The event encouraged respect for the cultural heritage of the Kazakh people and a conscious approach to national values. Students had the opportunity to express their thoughts freely and explore the topic in depth. The curatorial hour was engaging and informative.
