Cultural and educational visit to the central synagogue of Kazakhstan

On March 31, 2025, students of the Religious Studies program from the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University participated in a cultural and educational visit to the Central Synagogue of Kazakhstan. The event was organized within the framework of "Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions" (Goal #16 of the Sustainable Development Goals).
Students also had the opportunity to learn more about the activities of the Central Synagogue of Kazakhstan. Opened in 2004, the synagogue serves not only as a place of worship but also as a cultural and educational center. It hosts daily and holiday prayers, lectures on Judaism, and implements charitable and social programs.
A significant part of the visit was dedicated to interfaith dialogue. An open discussion took place between the representatives of the synagogue and the students, addressing issues of faith, traditions, and tolerance. The importance of peaceful coexistence and mutual respect among different religious communities in Kazakhstan was emphasized.
The cultural and educational visit to the Central Synagogue of Kazakhstan allowed students to gain deeper insights into the history and traditions of Judaism, as well as the role of the Jewish community in Kazakhstan. Furthermore, the event contributed to promoting tolerance, spiritual continuity, and interfaith dialogue.
Event Organizers:
