On April 2, 2025 Gulnaz Abdussalamova, the first-year master’s degree degree student of Foreign Philology major, conducted an educational event on the topic: "Ways to Overcome Gender Stereotypes" for the first-year students of Foreign Philology major as a part of her pedagogical practice within the framework of SDG 5: Gender Equality. The event was organized and held under the guidance of senior lecturer of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies, Tonker A.
During the event, the students exchanged opinions and discussed issues related to gender equality and inequality in society. The main objective of the session was to provide the students with valuable and useful information on gender equality while addressing current social issues. Through discussions, the participants identified the root causes of contemporary social problems.
Additionally, a “brainstorming” method was used, focusing on the following questions:
1. What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the term “gender equality”?
2. How do you feel about men holding a higher position in society?
While answering these questions, students showed great interest in the topic and actively participated in the discussion. Each group expressed its perspective, presenting both religious and theoretical arguments. The first group supported gender equality, whereas the second group advocated for gender inequality.
At the end of the event, the students freely shared their thoughts and emphasized that they had gained a lot of useful information. The topic and the discussions held during the session resonated well with the participants. The entire educational session was conducted in English.
