On April 3, 2025, an open educational event took place at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The first-year Master's degree  students specializing in Applied Kazakh Linguistics, Zhanargul Smagulova and Gulzamira Dauletiyar, hosted a roundtable discussion in the format of an educational hour. The event revolved around the intersection of culture and innovation, exploring the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in preserving and reviving Kazakh cultural values.

This initiative was carried out under the guidance of Associate Professors K.T. Mukhamadi and R.K. Omirbekova from the Department of Kazakh Linguistics named after A. Baitursynov. Their initiative aligns with the directive of Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, expressed during the fourth session of the National Kurultai. The President emphasized the importance of creating a national digital archive, integrated with AI systems, and intensifying historical research.

During the roundtable, attendees discussed several key topics:

1. How can artificial intelligence assist in preserving cultural heritage?

2. Is it possible to harmonize artificial intelligence with traditional culture?

3. How can Kazakh oral folklore be safeguarded using AI?

4. What are the advantages and disadvantages of digitalization in the context of cultural heritage?

Participants highlighted the positive aspects of using AI for cultural preservation while also addressing its limitations and challenges. A balanced approach between traditional and innovative methods was emphasized as crucial for success.

Students presented their ideas, shared their views on the significance of culture in the digital age, and stressed the importance of respecting national traditions. Thanks to the support of organizers and faculty, the educational hour was a success, leaving a lasting positive impression on all participants.

This event offered students an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the connection between digital technologies and cultural values while fostering a respectful attitude towards historical heritage.
