Meeting with representatives of LLP “Institute of High Technologies” of NAC “Kazatomprom”: cooperation in science and sustainable development. SDG 9 and SDG 13

At the Faculty of Physics and Technology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, a meeting was held with representatives of the Institute of High Technologies (IHT) – a subsidiary of NAC “Kazatomprom”, the national leader in the atomic industry and advanced scientific development in Kazakhstan.

The meeting focused on cooperation in the scientific field, discussion of promising research directions, and opportunities for implementing joint projects with the participation of young scientists, master's students, and faculty members.

Particular attention was given to the ecological aspects of scientific activities and the exchange of experience within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

During the meeting, IHT representatives presented information on the work of the Center for Environmental Design and Monitoring, which has been operating since 2019. The Center plays a key role in supporting environmental initiatives aimed at:

  • integrating sustainability principles into industrial practices;
  • ensuring compliance with the environmental legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
  • implementing international environmental standards and best industry practices.

Sustainable Development Goals in focus:

  • SDG 9 – Development of sustainable scientific and innovation infrastructure;
  • SDG 13 – Climate action and reducing environmental risks.

As a result of the meeting, the parties outlined plans for further cooperation, including student participation in practice-oriented projects, internships, and preparation of joint scientific publications.

The Faculty of Physics and Technology and IHT confirmed their mutual interest in strengthening partnership and developing long-term cooperation in the fields of science, ecology, and technological innovation.
