On April 18, 2025, the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a roundtable discussion on the topic “Innovative Approaches to Emergency Management and the Use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)”.

As special guests, the event welcomed representatives from the Center for Disaster Risk Reduction in Almaty city: Head of the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Aibol Kabdenovich Akbarov, and Lead Expert of the Center for Disaster and Emergency Risk Reduction, Zulfiya Serikovna Yesniyazova. The guests shared their professional experience and presented relevant insights on disaster prevention, emergency management, and the application of modern technologies.

During the visit, the faculty's academic and research laboratories were presented. The guests were introduced to the modern equipment used in the labs, ongoing scientific projects, and the research work of master's and PhD students. Additionally, they were acquainted with the activities of the Kazakhstan–China Joint Laboratory on Remote Sensing and Applied Technologies.

The event was held in a meaningful, professional, and collaborative atmosphere. The guests highly praised the engagement of students and young researchers and expressed their readiness for future joint projects.
