PREVENTION OF INTERNET FRAUD AND PROTECTION OF PERSONAL DATA
On April 17, 2025, at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National university, Faculty of International Relations, a Round Table was held as part of the implementation of SDG №16 “PEACE, JUSTICE AND STRONG INSTITUTIONS” on the topic: «Prevention of Internet Fraud and Protection of Personal Data».
The purpose of the event was to enhance students’ legal literacy in matters of combating internet fraud and protecting personal data, to promote a culture of digital security among youth, and to develop understanding of legal mechanisms for protecting the individual and rejecting illegal schemes in the context of digitalization.

Zh. – Candidate of Law, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of International Law, Baimagambetova Z. M. – PhD, Deputy Head of the Department of International Law for Research and International Relations, Baitukayeva D. U. – PhD, Deputy Head of the Department of International Law for Academic and Socio-Educational Work, Master’s students and undergraduate students of the educational program “International Law”.

- Common schemes of internet fraud: fake websites, online loans, data access.
- The role of legal literacy in protection against cybercrime.
- How not to become a dropper: liability and consequences.
- Methods for protecting personal data and the importance of digital hygiene.
- Why multifactor authentication and strong passwords matter.
- Legislative changes and law enforcement practices in cyber fraud cases.
The round table took place in an active and constructive atmosphere. Participants showed great interest in the topics discussed, shared personal observations, and proposed recommendations for strengthening digital security in the student environment. The round table was organized as part of the teaching internship of 1st-year master’s students.
