May 1 is Day of People's Friendship in Kazakhstan

On May 1, 2025, the large-scale festive events were held in front of the Republic Palace in Almaty to mark the Day of Unity of the People of Kazakhstan and the 30th anniversary of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan. The Almaty city administration organized unique cultural exhibitions with the participation of representatives of all ethnic groups and ethnocultural associations of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan. A concert program was also held.
By the initiative of Oguzkhan Abdulkarim, the head of “Turkmen Socio-Cultural Center” public association in Almaty, and with the support of center members, Annakulieva Gulnara Ataevna, Baktybaev Rustem Khodzhanepesovich, Baktybaeva Meiramkul Atembekovna, Kurbanova Karlygash Abdullaevna, Kurbanbaeva Ainash Amangeldievna, Otesinov Adilbek Omirzakovich, Kydyrbekuly Dulatbek Balgabekovich and Rakhmanova Rakhilya the cultural exhibition was organized.
The second-year students from Turkmenistan majoring in “6B02303 – Foreign Philology (Western Languages)” at the Faculty of Philology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University participated in the event under the guidance of senior lecturers M.S. Ongarbayeva and I.K. Azimbaeva from the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies. The students presented their country's national values, showcased applied art and historical heritage, and shared the rich culture of the Turkmen people through national songs and dances.
The mayor of Almaty, Yerbolat Dossaev, highly appreciated the youth's engagement and their active participation in the cultural events. In his speech, he emphasized that fostering friendship and mutual understanding among peoples is the foundation for sustainable development and a peaceful future for the country.
The exhibition was a vivid example of strengthening cultural ties between peoples, deepening friendship, and building bridges for global cooperation. The event aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal No. 17 — “Partnerships for Sustainable Development.”
KazNU students actively participated in the exhibition, familiarized themselves with Turkmen culture, and deeply felt the importance of intercultural dialogue and international cooperation. Events like these not only broaden young people's horizons but also help them better understand the principles of friendship and peaceful coexistence among nations.
