State symbols are the pride of the nation.

3 june, 2025

On June 3, 2025, at 13:00, in room 312 of the Faculty of Philology at Farabi Kazakh National University,  the first-year students of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies held an educational and patriotic event on the topic:  “State Symbols of the Republic of Kazakhstan.” The event was organized within SDG 4:  "Quality Education" and aimed at  instilling   in students respect and pride for the national symbols of the country.

The initiative and organization of the event came entirely from the students who not only prepared meaningful content but also decorated the classroom in a patriotic style.  The faculty members and the  group curators were invited as guests, adding a ceremonial atmosphere to the event.

The program consisted of several thematic segments. In the first part,  the students explored in detail the significance of each state symbol: the emblem,  the flag, and the national anthem of the Republic of Kazakhstan. They presented a  brief historical overview and analyzed  the  key elements, as well as the symbolism behind the colors and shapes.

Then, the audience was divided into several working groups.  Each group prepared  a mini-presentation on one of the symbols. The group focusing on the flag spoke about its author, Shaken Niyazbekov, and the meanings of the sun and the soaring eagle. The anthem group talked about  the lyrics, their authors, and the emotional impact of the anthem on  our citizens. After the presentations, a short discussion was held with the involvement of all participants.

The second part of the event featured interactive and educational games.  "Assemble the Emblem"  where the  students reassembled the emblem piece by piece while commenting on the meaning of each element. This game sparked strong engagement and allowed the  participants to reinforce their knowledge in a practical format. A quiz was also held, with questions related to the symbols, their history, and their role in Kazakhstani society.

The event allowed the  participants to deepen their understanding of national symbolism,  to develop critical thinking and teamwork skills, and to  demonstrate respect for national culture and traditions. The entire process was accompanied by national music and video materials, creating an atmosphere of solemnity and significance.

Such events play a crucial role in nurturing patriotism and civic responsibility among the younger generation.  The participants not only gained theoretical knowledge but also developed a deeper appreciation of national symbols as the foundation of national identity.
