The Olympiad as a Platform for Growth

24 june, 2025

On June 23–24, 2025, the Republican Mathematics Olympiad for Teachers was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Almaty. The event was organized by the "Maksimum" Teacher Training Center. Educators from across the country gathered around the central idea of professional growth and experience sharing.

The first day began with participant registration and the official opening ceremony in the Yellow Hall of KazNU. The core part of the event followed, where participants solved challenging Olympiad-level math problems.

Participants were also given a unique opportunity to explore the university's infrastructure. As part of a guided tour, educators visited the supercomputer center, Farabi Hub, and Farabi Robotics lab, where they observed cutting-edge technologies integrated into the university’s research and educational activities.

The second day featured a plenary session and an award ceremony in the Red Hall. The event was moderated by Dean Nursultan Sagynayuly Doszhan.

Distinguished representatives of the mathematics community shared their experiences with the audience, including:

  • Academician Mukhtarbay Otelbayev,

  • Head of the Department of "Mathematics" Kanzharbek Imanberdiev,

  • Director of Elab.Asia Yerulan Zhienbayev,

  • The founders of the “Maksimum” Center.

The event concluded with a festive award ceremony, recognizing winners and participants with diplomas, certificates, and memorable gifts.

The Republican Olympiad proved to be not only a competition but also a platform for professional dialogue, motivation, and inspiration. Such events elevate the status of the teaching profession and contribute to the advancement of quality mathematics education in Kazakhstan.

The Olympiad aligns directly with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 — "Quality Education" and SDG 17 — "Partnerships for the Goals." It strengthens the professional educator community, promotes knowledge exchange, and supports the improvement of mathematics teaching nationwide.
