KazNU is actively developing ESG education

As part of the scientific project "The Three-Pronged Concept of Sustainable Development (ESG): Business Interests in the context of Balanced Regional Development", Ainagul Adambekova, Professor of the Department of Management at the Higher School of Economics and Business of Al–Farabi Kazakh National University, participated as a speaker in one of the issues of the Altyn Bank JSC Pro ESG project.

The project is implemented in the format of a series of panel interviews on YouTube and is dedicated to topical issues of sustainable development and the implementation of ESG principles in corporate governance. The interview was also attended by leading experts in the field of ESG, who share their opinions and experience in implementing effective solutions to achieve long-term business sustainability.

During the interview, Aynagul Amangeldinovna highlighted the approaches of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the introduction of ESG principles into educational, scientific and managerial practice. Special attention was paid to the role of universities as active participants in sustainable transformations in society and the economy.

The Professor stressed that the SDGs are global indicators focused on country governance, which are aimed at preserving the planet for future generations by reducing the negative impact on the environment. While ESG is primarily business–oriented, reflecting approaches to addressing global challenges such as climate change, responsible manufacturing, social inequality, and others.

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University implements significant scientific projects aimed at achieving sustainable development goals in the areas of economic growth, environmental management, reducing polluting emissions, preserving biodiversity and soil fertility. At the same time, the university is actively developing ESG education: it launches educational programs, develops business cases and textbooks, and implements ESG modules in bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs.

KazNU also serves as a regional platform for training and advanced training of university and school teachers in Kazakhstan and Central Asian countries on sustainable development and ESG issues.

In addition, the university itself demonstrates its ESG commitment through the implementation of the principles of corporate governance, social responsibility and environmental management in daily activities.

In conclusion, Professor A.Adambekova noted that the university has significant potential to expand its "pro-sustainability" impact, and the KazNU team is ready for new initiatives and cooperation in this area.
