XIII INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM OF THE ALTAI COMMUNITY

This year, the XIII International Symposium of the Altai Community was held in Szeged, Hungary, at the University of Szeged. The event served as an important platform aimed at strengthening the scientific, cultural, and spiritual ties of the Altai peoples, bringing together nearly 150 speakers from around the world who shared their ideas and perspectives. The main theme of the symposium was “The Culture of Names, Titles, and Nicknames among the Altai Peoples.”
The symposium was attended by high-ranking officials and distinguished scholars. Among them were the Chairman of the Board and Rector of our university, Prof. Dr. Zhanseit Kanseituly Tuymebayev; the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Budapest, Abzal Saparbekuly; the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to Budapest, Gülşen Karanis Ekşioğlu; the President of the Turkish Historical Society, Prof. Dr. Yüksel Özgen; Vice-Rector of the University of Szeged, Prof. Dr. Zoltán Kónya; as well as representatives from TİKA and the Yunus Emre Institute. In addition, many scholars from Türkiye, Hungary, and the Turkic states of Central Asia contributed to the symposium.
On behalf of our department, the Head of the Department of Turkology and Language Theory, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Raushangül Amirdinqyzy Avakova, and PhD Sultanbek Kutlugjon Bakhriddinuly participated and presented their papers. Professor Avakova emphasized that this symposium is an important step in Turkological and Altaic studies, highlighting the need for in-depth research into the etymology of words and the history of languages.
Furthermore, the proceedings of the XI International Symposium of the Altai Community, which was held at our university in 2023, were presented. The Chairman of the Altai Symposium Committee, Professor İlhan Şahin, presented this book to our Rector at the opening ceremony of the symposium.
Each presentation held significant scientific value and contributed to broadening the horizons of the participants. During the discussions, new proposals were also put forward, aimed at finding solutions to common issues.
Upon the conclusion of the event, Professor Raushangul Amirdinovna presented the university’s honorary badges to the international scholars as a gesture of recognition and respect.
