Hearing of Doctoral Students of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences to Strengthen Dissertation Defense Work

On September 27, the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held a hearing of doctoral students aimed at strengthening efforts for the timely defense of dissertations and providing support in the completion of research projects.

The meeting was attended by the Dean of the Faculty and Chair of the Dissertation Council, A.S. Aktymbayeva. She emphasized the importance of improving the quality of dissertation preparation, increasing the scientific activity of doctoral students, and creating favorable conditions for their successful defense.

The hearing brought together doctoral students who had completed their studies between 2013 and 2025 but, for various reasons, had not yet submitted their research for defense. They reported on the current stage of readiness of their dissertations and highlighted the main problems and challenges faced during the preparation of their scientific work.

Special attention was given to research methodology, dissertation structure, publication activity, as well as the practical aspects of defense procedures.

Such meetings help identify and systematize key challenges, motivate doctoral students to complete their research, and ensure the timely submission of dissertations for defense. A.S. Aktymbayeva noted that a successful defense is not only a personal achievement of the doctoral students but also a significant contribution to strengthening the scientific potential of the university.
