Ensuring inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable cities and communities

On September 25, 2025, a senior lecturer from the Foreign Philology and Translation Studies Department Tairova G.A. and the third-year students of Foreign philology major held an event on the topic: Ensuring inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable cities and communities within the framework of SDG 11. This can be achieved through one of the ways of saving the environment - recycling. The goal of the event was to develop the students' practical understanding of the principles of sustainable urban development, increase environmental literacy, and develop skills for participating in local environmental initiatives. The event included a visit to a recycling collection point, where the students visited an operating municipal waste sorting facility and heard a lecture on the categories of accepted materials (paper, plastic, metal, glass, etc.), as well as the challenges and barriers to recycling in the region. Students asked questions regarding recycling, waste sorting technology, and logistics. The students gained practical experience participating in an environmental initiative and expanded their knowledge of the principles of sustainable urban waste management.
