Special Course on Prehistoric Bone Technology Launched at Al-Farabi KazNU
A special course titled “Prehistoric Bone Technology” has been launched at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The course is organized within the framework of the program supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Lectures and practical sessions are conducted by Dr. Malvina Baumann, PhD, an associated researcher at the University of Liège and the ZooStan Laboratory (CNRS–KazNU). The course began with an introductory lecture, in which Dr. Baumann explained the fundamentals of zooarchaeology, the structural properties of bones, how ancient societies crafted weapons and tools from bone, and the importance of traceology in identifying their use.
Students from the 1st to 4th year of the Faculty of History actively participated in the introductory session. This course offers a valuable academic platform for students and young researchers seeking deeper knowledge in archaeology, anthropology, and material culture.
