October 16, 2025
At Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, under the Department of Customs, Financial and Environmental Law of the Faculty of Law, and supervised by PhD in Law, Associate Professor Kalymbek B., students of group 205 held an educational event on the topic “SDG 2 – Zero Hunger.”
The main goal of the event was to raise awareness among students about global and national issues of food security, hunger, and access to quality nutrition.
Students analyzed food prices in the Faculty of Law cafeteria, compared them with those of other faculties, and examined how food pricing affects social justice and access to nutrition.
During the lecture, it was emphasized that hunger and food shortages are not only economic but also social and political problems. The causes of hunger were discussed, including economic inequality, unemployment, inflation, crises in agriculture, and environmental challenges.
Currently, more than 800 million people around the world suffer from hunger. This figure proves that despite the progress of human civilization, food inequality remains a global issue.
The goal of SDG 2 is to eliminate hunger by 2030, ensure food security, and promote sustainable agriculture.
In this regard, students discussed ways to support agriculture in Kazakhstan, stabilize food prices, and improve nutrition programs for socially vulnerable groups.
The event was held in an interactive format where participants exchanged ideas, shared their proposals, and evaluated the quality and cost of food in the university cafeteria through the lens of SDG 2.
At the end of the event, students presented their suggestions under the slogan “Ending Hunger – Our Shared Responsibility,” emphasizing the need to ensure accessible and quality food for all.
