Formation of intercultural communication of foreign students studying Russian as a foreign language

The Faculty of Pre-university Education of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has foreign students from different countries who study Russian, Kazakh, and regional studies. Having arrived in Kazakhstan, they find themselves in a different environment of living and communication. Of course, they all want not only to learn languages and get a high-quality education, but also to learn about the realities of Kazakhstan, its traditions, history, cultural peculiarities, and make new friends.  Learning Russian is accompanied by information about the history of Russia and about famous people in Russia. Teachers of the Department of Language and General Education Training of the Faculty of Pre-University Education of al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Russian classes simultaneously introduce students to the history of Kazakhstan, with the most important events, dates, and famous people of Kazakhstan. This arouses great interest among students. The names of streets, theaters, museums; new names: Abai, M.Auezov, A.Baitursynov and others are associated with the history of Kazakhstan, with its cultural features, with their heritage. Teachers conduct excursions, talks, meetings, evenings, and introduce students to the sights of Almaty in various formats. Information about the holiday dates (Day of the Languages of the People of Kazakhstan, Republic Day, Independence Day, Nauryz, Victory Day on May 9, etc.) allows foreign students to better understand the culture of the country, to feel the attitude of Kazakhstanis to their history, to their traditions, to their nearest neighbors.

          Republic Day is celebrated in Kazakhstan on October 25. This year, teachers of the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners at the Faculty of Pre-University Education of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University A.Akhmedova, E.Ignatova, D.Tolmacheva held an open curatorial hour dedicated to this holiday. According to tradition, the teachers told about the history of Kazakhstan's formation, about its successes and achievements in all spheres of economy, culture, and education. The students asked numerous questions. Stable, respectful relations between people of all nationalities of the people of Kazakhstan make it possible to maintain peace and stability. Foreign students, studying the history, culture, and traditions of Kazakhstan, immerse themselves in an environment that forms their intercultural communication skills, awareness of the integrity of the world, the desire to preserve this world and strengthen relations between all countries.

          Youth is the future of our planet.  Teachers working with young people from different countries understand their responsibilities and instill in foreign students the principles of mutual respect, cooperation, and the desire for peace, stability, and sustainable development throughout the world.
