On November 7, 2025, the 3rd year students of 6B02304 – «Translation studies» major visited the Almaty Museum of Art within the framework of SDG 9.
The main purpose of the event was to explain to students the impact of infrastructure and innovation on the cultural and economic development of society, to demonstrate the importance of industrialization and new technologies through modern art, as well as to demonstrate the relationship between urban development and the creative industry.
One of the works of art that particularly attracted the attention of students at the museum is the giant twenty—meter statue of the world-famous sculptor Richard Serra «Intersection» (2011). This installation demonstrates the connection between the mass of iron structures and spatial perception, vividly demonstrating the artistic expression of industrial infrastructure.
Then the students got acquainted with the work of the British-German artist Yinka Shonibare «Wind Sculpture (UN) II» in the open-air exhibition. This sculpture reflects the ideas of sustainable development, energy flow and harmony with the environment through dynamic shapes that reflect the movement of the wind.
During this educational event, students exchanged views on urbanism, the use of industrial materials in creativity, engineering solutions and sustainable innovation.
An educational visit to the museum broadened the horizons of the students and allowed them to understand the impact of industrialization on culture, the place of art in the processes of technological and economic development using concrete examples. The students took an active part, discussed their impressions of the works they saw, and freely expressed their opinions.
