A conference dedicated to the Formation of national identity in Global communication
SDG-4 The international scientific and practical conference "Global Communication: National information model of civilizational development and Artificial Intelligence", dedicated to the World Science Day for Peace and Development, as well as the IV traditional Kenjali readings, was held at the Faculty of Journalism of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The main purpose of the event, organized by the UNESCO Chair in Journalism and Communication, was aimed at discussing issues of national identity in information media policy in the era of globalization, as well as the role of artificial intelligence in the media and public life.
The conference was attended by the university's leadership, foreign and domestic scientists, public figures, experts in the field of media and artificial intelligence, as well as students.
In his welcoming speech, Vice–rector for Social Development Bakhytzhan Omarov noted: "Kenzhali Readings is a unique school that educates the younger generation in the spirit of professional responsibility, national identity and a culture of objective dissemination of information. This is the point of contact between science and journalism".
He also highlighted the significant contribution of the outstanding researcher, public figure and publicist Zh.Kenzhalin's contribution to the development of the national information space.
Professor Namazaly Omashev also spoke: "The name Zhumabek Kenzhalin in the history of Kazakh journalism is a symbol of honesty and responsibility. He was a man who felt the weight of every word, both as an editor and as a scientist. Zh.Kenzhalin considered journalism as a high platform of service to the people. His works remain an example for young journalists".
Vlastimil Samek, representative of the UN Department of Global Communications and UN Permanent Coordinator in Kazakhstan, stressed the importance of the contribution of artificial intelligence to the civilizational development of society, and also put forward the idea of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, "all innovations should serve and be used exclusively for the benefit of humanity."
Director General of Alatau-Aqparat media holding, Erzhan Tolek, stressed the importance of protecting Kazakhstan's information space in modern conditions through a three–tier system and listed them as follows: the first is the national information space, the second is the Central Asian information space, and the third is the general information circle of the Turkic world.
Also during the international event, Professor of the Higher School of Journalism and Mass Communications of St. Petersburg State University, Doctor of Political Sciences I. A. Bykov, Director of Communications of the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan Kumarova Meruyert and Head of the UNESCO Chair in Journalism and Communication Oryntay Oshanova shared their thoughts on AI literacy in the context of national information development.
During the conference, special attention was paid to the issues of human responsibility, the reliability of information, the importance of media literacy, as well as the formation of national identity in the global information space.
