Main tasks:
- prioritising the development of fundamental research as the basis for creating new knowledge, mastering new technologies, and forming and developing scientific schools in the most important areas of scientific development;
- participating in funded scientific research in the humanities and social sciences;
- participation in intergovernmental and international scientific programmes in relevant areas;
- coordination and implementation of proactive scientific research;
- training of scientific and teaching staff and specialists in postgraduate education programmes based on the latest achievements in science and education;
- development of theoretical and methodological foundations for studying Abai's creative heritage at the intersection of literary studies, linguistics, cultural studies, history, pedagogy, jurisprudence, philosophy, sociology, and political science;
- assess current issues in the theory and history of Kazakh literature from ancient times to the present day from the perspective of Abay's aesthetic, ethical and philosophical views;
- comprehend issues surrounding the perception of Abay's work in countries near and far abroad;
- differentiate between the theory and history of the modern Kazakh literary language;
- study the problems of the theory and practice of literary translation and translation studies, literary comparativistics;
- consider current issues in the theory and history of Kazakh literature and the process of literary creativity in the context of world literature.
Fundamental research projects financed from the state budget:
- 3976/GF4 Interdisciplinary study of the creative heritage of Abai Kunanbayev (2015-2017). Funding from the state grant amounted to 21 million tenge. Project manager – Zh. Dadebaev.
