The purpose of the Research Institute of Turkology and Altaic Studies is to conduct fundamental and applied scientific research of the historical, cultural, linguistic and spiritual heritage of the Turkic peoples, as well as the integration of science and innovative approaches, analysis of international experience in the development of scientific knowledge in the field of linguistics, literature, culture, history, archeology, ethnography of the Turkic peoples, allowing to identify common values of related languages and cultures, the place of the Turkic ethno-linguistic landscape in the world space.
The tasks of the Research Institute of Turkology and Altaic Studies are:
− conducting fundamental research to solve the problems of Turkology with the participation of domestic and foreign scientists; development of the theory and methodology of modern turkology; integration of scientific research in various areas;
− conducting applied research to solve urgent problems of Altaic studies; development of the theory and methodology of modern Altaic studies; integration of scientific research on special topics;
− participation in the implementation of the results of scientific research and development on the creation of a new technology in the socio-cultural and ethno-linguistic construction of the state;
− participation in the development of the most important scientific problems of the development and improvement of university and post-university education;
− implementation of a close connection of scientific research with the educational process by widely involving teachers, doctoral students, undergraduates and students in research work carried out at the Research Institute of Turkology and Altaic Studies, as well as the maximum use of research results in the educational process;
− training of scientific personnel, including in the master's and doctoral studies of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, improving the scientific qualifications of the teaching staff;
− development of international cooperation within the competence of the Research Institute of Turkology and Altaic Studies in order to conduct general research, prepare and publish scientific articles in rating publications indexed in the KKSON RK database and international databases Scopus and/or Web of Science;
− participation in competitions for the financing of fundamental and applied programs, including at the expense of the republican and local budgets, international organizations and foundations, contractual works;
− creation of a database of research on Turkology and Altaic studies, as well as the creation of electronic resources of personalities of Turkologists;
− as a basic organization to carry out research, educational, pedagogical, industrial practices for bachelors, undergraduates, doctoral students of Kazakhstan and foreign countries;
− educational and research internships of domestic and foreign bachelors, undergraduates, doctoral students in academic mobility.
