Center for Sociological Research and Social Engineering of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

Center for Sociological Research and Social Engineering (CSRSE) of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is a modern research and analytical institution specializing in comprehensive sociological and applied studies in the fields of education, social policy, and public processes.

The Center conducts ongoing monitoring of the university’s educational and social environment, implementing a series of corporate and research projects aimed at improving academic efficiency and fostering an anti-corruption and inclusive institutional culture. Key monitoring directions include:

Since its establishment in 2010, the Center has implemented over 100 sociological studies commissioned by government bodies, international organizations, and foundations. CSRSE’s research combines scientific rigor and applied value, providing analytical support for management decisions, strategic planning, and assessment of social trends.

The Center actively develops educational and methodological infrastructure for applied sociology. Based on the Institute for Advanced Training of Al-Farabi KazNU, CSRSE organizes workshops and training sessions on modern methods of sociological analysis, statistical data processing, and the use of analytical software (1KA, SPSS, NVivo, MaxQDA etc.). Since 2016, numerous training events have been held, including international programs conducted jointly with Columbia University and UNICEF (2020-2021).

A key initiative of the Center is the Scientific and Applied Laboratory of Youth Studies, aimed at cultivating a new generation of researchers. The laboratory provides practical training for students, master’s, and PhD candidates in fieldwork, data collection, and empirical analysis, and offers internship opportunities for young researchers and professionals in the social sphere.

The Center’s strong methodological foundation, proprietary databases, innovative approaches in qualitative and quantitative sociology, and a highly professional research team enable CSRSE to successfully implement projects of any complexity and maintain high standards of analytical accuracy and expert evaluation.
