On November 16, 2025, Senior Lecturers A.S. Bazarbayeva and R.R. Barkibayeva organized a discussion on SDG 5 “Gender Equality” at the Faculty of Biology. The participants included students from the groups Scientific Biology 10 and Biotechnology 9.
The goal of the discussion was to identify the state of gender equality in Kazakhstan and compare it with the situation of women in the countries of Central Asia. The groups prepared presentations on the topic, focusing on several Central Asian countries—Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.
The students’ presentations on gender issues across different countries were lively and engaging, allowing the groups to learn about the status of women in Kazakhstan compared to other nations. Students were then invited to express their personal views through a structured oral presentation titled “Gender Equality — Myth or Reality?” The responses demonstrated that this issue remains highly significant in society, and the discussion turned out very sincere and insightful, with diverse perspectives shared.
During the discussion, it was noted that approaches to solving gender equality issues vary across the republics neighboring Kazakhstan. However, according to statistical data, all Central Asian countries are gradually finding solutions to this problem.
