Empowering Youth Through Education: Round Table on SDG 4 at the Faculty of Foreign Languages

18 november, 2025

In celebration of the Republic Day of Kazakhstan, the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Department of Philology at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted an inspiring and vibrant round table dedicated to Sustainable Development Goal 4 — Quality Education. The event brought together students, professors, and international guests to discuss how inclusive and equitable education forms the cornerstone of sustainable development and global progress.

The keynote speaker, Mr. Michael Klett, Director of Bike Hut, a San Francisco–based non-profit organization promoting youth volunteering and community engagement, captivated the audience with his thought-provoking presentation. He shared how education, when combined with civic participation and compassion, empowers young people to become proactive changemakers in their societies. Mr. Klett’s message resonated deeply: learning is not only a path to self-improvement but also a force that strengthens communities and builds a better world.

Adding a festive and creative touch, first-year students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages showcased their talents through presentations, traditional dances, songs, and performances, highlighting the cultural richness and youthful energy of Kazakhstan’s new generation. Their contributions reflected both intellectual enthusiasm and patriotic pride — a perfect blend of artistry, scholarship, and national spirit.

Throughout the discussions, participants explored the meaning of quality education, intercultural dialogue, and global citizenship, emphasizing how education bridges differences and nurtures empathy. The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm, mutual respect, and inspiration — truly embodying the essence of SDG 4: Quality Education for All.

The event reaffirmed KazNU’s dedication to empowering students through education, creativity, and cultural awareness. It served as a lively platform for young voices to be heard — voices full of ideas, energy, and hope for a more inclusive and responsible future.

As one student beautifully remarked, “Education opens minds and hearts — it connects people, builds empathy, and inspires progress.”

By blending dialogue, creativity, and volunteer spirit, the Faculty of Foreign Languages continues to nurture the next generation of global citizens — individuals who carry forward the ideals of education, unity, and social responsibility.
