KazNU projects were presented in Baku
KazNU scientists participated in the international conference The Role of Universities in Green Energy and Sustainability, which was held at ADA University (Baku, Azerbaijan).
The event was organized within the framework of the CICA Partnership Network of Leading Universities with the support of ADA University, the Institute for Development and Diplomacy (IDD), the Azerbaijan Agency for International Development (AIDA) and the CICA Secretariat. The conference brought together more than 50 professors, researchers and experts from 21 countries, from Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan to China, India, Korea, Turkey and other countries.

Welcoming remarks were made by Dr. Fariz Ismayilzade, Vice-rector of ADA University, Deputy of Milli Majlis, Zhang Lin, Deputy Secretary General of the CICA, and Yalchin Rafiyev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Chief Negotiator of COP29.
The conference focused on the strategic role of universities in promoting energy efficiency, sustainable practices, the introduction of green technologies, the development of renewable energy, technological innovations, digital solutions and inter-university partnerships. Special attention was paid to the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which highlights the growing role of universities as a driving force for global environmental transformation.
On behalf of KazNU, Aliya Aktymbaeva, Dean of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management, delivered a report "The Role of Modern Scientific and Educational HUBs in the Formation of People of a New Formation: on the example of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University".

In her speech, she noted the importance of expanding international academic cooperation, integrating green technologies into the educational process, and developing research hubs focused on studying climate risks. The speaker noted that universities play a key role in shaping a culture of sustainable development in Central Asia and training new generation specialists on climate risks and the role of universities as key centers of sustainable development in Central Asia. The report aroused wide interest among the participants and became a significant contribution to the discussion of the role of scientific and educational institutions in the global environmental agenda in achieving the UN SDGs.

At the panel session, representatives of Central Asia discussed the impact of higher education on the development of green energy, exchanged experiences in implementing educational programs and scientific research, and outlined prospects for expanding regional cooperation.

The participation of al-Farabi Kazakh National University in the international conference confirmed the university's commitment to strengthen international partnership, develop scientific research in the field of climate sustainability and promote green technologies.
