At the Department of Biophysics, Biomedicine, and Neuroscience, an educational event titled “STOP HIV/AIDS: Knowledge Saves Lives” was organized within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
On December 3, 2025, the Department of Biophysics, Biomedicine, and Neuroscience held an event aimed at developing students’ basic knowledge about HIV/AIDS, modes of transmission, and effective prevention measures. The event was organized in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which seek to build a just and sustainable society.
The event was attended by first-year students of the “Biomedicine” educational program. The curator hour “STOP HIV/AIDS: Knowledge Saves Lives” was focused on fostering a responsible attitude toward personal health among students. During the session, key facts about HIV and AIDS, routes of transmission, preventive measures, opportunities for free testing, and the importance of early detection were discussed. Special attention was given to breaking down stereotypes and promoting a tolerant attitude toward people living with HIV. The session helped raise awareness and contributed to reducing the risk of infection spread.
The initiative was supported by the Almaty City Public Health Department.
Representatives of various population groups took part in the event:
KazNU students – 49 participants,
faculty members – 5 participants.
The “STOP HIV/AIDS: Knowledge Saves Lives” campaign made a significant contribution to increasing young people’s awareness of HIV/AIDS and its prevention. Participants gained up-to-date knowledge about transmission routes, protection methods, and the importance of timely diagnosis. In addition, the event promoted students’ social responsibility and strengthened cooperation between the faculty and the Almaty City Public Health Department.
