Seminar “Implementation of SDGs: Developing Professional Competence from Idea to Doctoral Dissertation Defense”

On December 4, 2025, at the Faculty of Philology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the Department of Turkology and Theory of Language hosted the seminar “Implementation of SDGs: Developing Professional Competence from Idea to Doctoral Dissertation Defense”. The seminar featured professors from Bukhara State University (Uzbekistan) in the following composition: Bobokalanov Odilshokh Ostonovich - Head of Department, PhD, Associate Professor; Adizova Obodon Istamovna- Professor, DSc; Khamidova Muborak Khafizovna - Associate Professor, DSc; Narzullaeva Dilfuza Bafaevna - Research Fellow, French language lecturer.

     The seminar was conducted by Professor of the Department of Turkology and Theory of Language, Gul’mira Bayanzhanovna Madieva, aiming to develop the professional competence of doctoral and master’s students and to prepare them for their dissertation defenses.

   The seminar also included participation from department faculty: Raushan Zhumakerimkyzy Kondybaeva - Senior Lecturer, PhD; Nurgul Akhmetkhankyzy Ismailova - Deputy Head of Department for Scientific-Innovative Work and International Relations, Senior Lecturer; Kamar Sagynkalievna Aldasheva - Associate Professor.

    Additionally, doctoral and master’s students from the following programs participated: "6D011900: Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages" doctoral students, "8D02303: Linguistics", doctoral students; "8D02208: Turkology" doctoral students, "7M02303: Linguistics" master’s students.

    The objective of the seminar was to enhance the professional competence of participants, promote experience sharing between faculty of the two universities, and discuss modern approaches to organizing scientific research and preparing doctoral dissertations.

    During the seminar, participants discussed research planning, selection of research methods, dissertation formatting, and defense preparation. They actively asked questions, shared their experiences, and received professional guidance from professors from Uzbekistan.

    The seminar concluded with an emphasis on the importance of a comprehensive approach to developing professional competence and provided recommendations for further improvement of doctoral and master’s students’ academic work.
