At аl-Farabi Kazakh National University, students of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies, together with faculty members, held an open educational session dedicated to Independence Day titled “The Road to Independence.”

Today at аl-Farabi KazNU, first-year master’s students of the FP and TS groups from the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation Studies organized a special educational session dedicated to the Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with the participation of lecturer Bayeli A.Zh. and under the guidance of senior lecturer Nagiyatova L.B.

The event provided an overview of the key stages in Kazakhstan’s historical development. The session traced the nation’s journey from the era of the Kazakh Khanate to its long struggle for independence. Special attention was given to the historical contributions of Ablai Khan and Kenesary Kasymov, whose efforts played a vital role in preserving national unity and defending freedom. Another section focused on the Alash Movement of the early 20th century. The importance of the ideas and activities of Alikhan Bokeikhanov, Akhmet Baitursynov, and Mirzhakyp Dulatov in shaping national consciousness was highlighted. The central part of the program was devoted to the December 1986 events. The courage and sacrifice of Kairat Ryskulbekov, Lazzat Asanova, Sabira Mukhametzhanova, and Erbol Sypatayev were emphasized as powerful symbols of resistance to injustice and as a decisive milestone on the road to independence.

The session also included a video presentation followed by an open discussion. Students shared their views on the value of independence, national unity, and the responsibility of today’s generation for safeguarding the country’s future.

The event concluded with a reflection on the significance of independence in Kazakhstan’s history and underscored the importance of fostering patriotism among young people.
