Practice-Oriented Education as the Basis for Effective Partnership: Course on the Investigation of Economic Crimes Completed

The Department of Economic Investigations of the city of Almaty hosted a ceremonial closing event marking the completion of the micro-qualification course “Investigation of Economic Crimes”, implemented within the framework of developing sustainable interagency and cross-sectoral cooperation between law enforcement bodies and educational institutions.

The course program was aimed at forming and enhancing modern professional competencies in the field of economic security and counteracting financial and economic crimes. The course was implemented in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal No. 17, “Partnerships for the Goals”, which made it possible to combine scientific potential, educational resources, and the practical experience of relevant government agencies.

During the training, participants acquired comprehensive knowledge of the theoretical and applied foundations of investigating economic offenses, specific issues of crime qualification, mechanisms of financial monitoring, analysis of financial and business schemes, as well as practical skills in working with information systems, including the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations (URPTI).

The certificate award ceremony for successful course completion took place at the premises of the Department of Economic Investigations of the city of Almaty. Certificates were presented to the participants by the Head of the Almaty City DEI, Major General Nurzhan Ismagulov, who emphasized the high level of training of the participants, the relevance of the course content, and its importance for strengthening the economic security system of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

As part of the event, special recognition was given to the contribution of the faculty members of the Law Faculty, who ensured scientific and methodological support and the practice-oriented focus of the program. Letters of appreciation from the DEI leadership for high professionalism, active participation in the implementation of the course, and contribution to the development of practice-oriented legal education were awarded to:

  • Dean of the Law Faculty, Candidate of Legal Sciences, Professor Akhatov U.;
  • Head of the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Criminalistics, Doctor of Legal Sciences, Professor Dzhansaraeva R.;
  • Associate Professor, PhD of the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Criminalistics Akbolatova M.;
  • Senior Lecturer of the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Criminalistics Zhakys A.

In addition, on the initiative of the university leadership, letters of appreciation were presented to the lecturers and course organizers who ensured a high level of the educational process, effective coordination, and the practical orientation of the training program.

The completion of the course became a convincing example of effective partnership between the university and the Department of Economic Investigations of the city of Almaty, and also laid a solid foundation for further cooperation aimed at training qualified specialists, strengthening the rule of law, and ensuring the sustainable development of the national economy.
