SDG 12 “Responsible Consumption and Production.”
On December 20, 2025, Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Candidate of Legal Sciences Nurlaiym Mynbatyrova, together with the students of group 303, took part in an important event dedicated to Sustainable Development Goal 12 – “Responsible Consumption and Production.”
The main goal of the event was to promote a culture of waste reduction, sorting, recycling, and reuse, which is an important step toward a sustainable and environmentally friendly future. Collecting recyclable materials for subsequent recycling contributes to waste reduction, the rational use of natural resources, and the development of an environmental culture. The event aimed to increase student environmental responsibility and the practical implementation of sustainable development principles.
As part of this initiative, the students visited the “Ecosen” recycling collection center located in the Bostandyk district of Almaty.
Recycling one ton of paper saves an average of 17 trees, 30,000 liters of water and a significant amount of electricity.
The purpose of this visit was to make a meaningful contribution to environmental protection by promoting waste reduction, sorting, recycling, and the reuse of materials – essential components of sustainable development. Prior to the visit, the students collected paper waste at the Faculty of Law and delivered it to the recycling point.
This experience was not only educational but also deeply impactful, helping students develop environmental awareness and a responsible attitude toward natural resources. Transitioning to sustainable consumption and production patterns, encouraging the use of eco-friendly products, and supporting green initiatives are key aspects of the Sustainable Development Goals. Participation in such activities fosters a sense of responsibility among students and motivates them to contribute to environmental preservation in the future.
The successful completion of this campaign confirms the student community's commitment to actively participating in the implementation global goals. Initiatives such as these help integrate eco-responsibility principles into the university's daily life and reduce its human impact on the environment.
