Attestation of Third-Year Doctoral Students of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences
On December 24, a scheduled attestation of third-year doctoral students (5th-6th semesters) was held at the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, jointly organized with the Department for Training and Attestation of Scientific Personnel. During the meeting, doctoral students presented reports on the results of their research activities, progress in dissertation research, publication performance, as well as the implementation of individual study and research plans. Particular attention was paid to the alignment of dissertation topics with priority research areas, the relevance of the obtained scientific results, and compliance with the established timelines for research projects.

The attestation committee included the Head of the Department for Training and Attestation of Scientific Personnel, PhD Laura A. Kuanova, the Chair of the Dissertation Council and Dean of the Faculty, Aliya S. Aktymbaeva, as well as the Vice Dean and Deputy Heads of Departments for Research and International Scientific Mobility.
During the meeting, the Head of DTASP, PhD L.A. Kuanova, provided doctoral students with detailed explanations regarding the general rules for awarding academic degrees, new requirements for doctoral dissertation defenses, procedures for the approval and re-approval of domestic and international scientific supervisors, as well as the requirements for publishing research articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and international journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, included in the approved list of scientific publications. In her address, the Chair of the Dissertation Council and Dean of the Faculty, A.S. Aktymbaeva, emphasized the importance of continuous and close cooperation between doctoral students, their scientific supervisors, and graduating departments to ensure high-quality research outcomes.

As a result of the attestation, the work carried out by the doctoral students was evaluated, and recommendations were formulated to further develop research activities, enhance publication output in international scientific journals, and expand interdisciplinary collaboration.
In addition, tentative dates for research seminars, pre-defense sessions, and final dissertation defenses were determined, enabling doctoral students to effectively plan the subsequent stages of their dissertation preparation. The conducted attestation contributes to the systematic monitoring of the quality of scientific personnel training and is aimed at ensuring a high standard of doctoral education at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
