Communication Skills Development Course for SDG 1 "No Poverty"
As part of the implementation of UN Sustainable Development Goal 1 "No Poverty," an educational meeting was held on October 9, 2025, at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The meeting focused on developing life and communication skills that promote social resilience and professional fulfillment. The event took the form of a practice-oriented course on "Self-Management Using the Asimov Method."
The speaker was Marat Abubakrievich Asimov, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Psychiatrist, Psychotherapist, Narcologist, and Clinical Psychologist of the Highest Category, Professor in the Department of Psychology at Turan University.
The main objective of the event was to develop skills in effective communication, self-regulation, and stress resilience as essential resources for social adaptation and the reduction of risks of socioeconomic vulnerability. Particular attention was paid to developing the skills necessary for public speaking, negotiation, and constructive conflict resolution.
The meeting aimed to provide social and psychological support, develop self-management skills in challenging life and professional situations, and develop key competencies for helping professionals working with socially vulnerable groups.
The session examined modern approaches to self-management under stress, the psychological aspects of effective communication in crisis situations, and practical methods of professional interaction and counseling. The practical portion of the course focused on practicing assertive behavior, argumentative communication, and emotional self-regulation.
The event was interactive and included discussions, real-life examples from professional practice, questions from the audience, and demonstrations of psychological support methods. More than 25 participants participated, demonstrating the high relevance of the topics covered and significant interest in developing personal and social resilience skills. The implementation of such educational initiatives is consistent with the objectives of SDG 1 "No Poverty," as it is aimed at strengthening human capital, developing personal resources, and developing competencies that promote social inclusion and improve quality of life.
