On January 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., an International Scientific and Practical Conference entitled «Evolution, Trends and Prospects of the Political Culture of Civil Society: Kazakhstan and International Experience» will be held.
The International Scientific and Practical Conference is organized within the framework of the implementation of the research program «Social and Political Processes in Kazakhstan (1980-2020): Experience of Democratization and the Formation of a Fair State» (program-targeted funding of the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan).
The purpose of the International Scientific and Practical Conference is to discuss research findings and relevant methodological approaches to the study of Kazakhstan’s socio-political transformation during the 1980s-2020s, with a focus on democratization, the evolution of political culture, the development of civil society institutions, and the formation of the concept of a «Fair State» in the context of the ideas of New Kazakhstan.
Key thematic areas of the Conference include:
1. Historical and political analysis of socio-political processes in Kazakhstan in the dynamics of 1980-2020.
2. Evolution of political culture and societal value orientations in conditions of transformation: trust, participation, solidarity, legitimacy, and civic responsibility.
3. The role of political culture in socio-political processes and the democratization of society.
4. Comparative analysis of models of political culture in the contemporary world.
5. Civil society institutions: NGOs, public associations, trade unions, initiative groups – mechanisms of development and sustainability.
6. Political parties and the party system: transformations, competition, interest representation, and interaction with society and the state.
7. State and society: models of interaction, public policy, governance reforms, and their impact on democratization and social justice.
8. Youth political activity and civic education: the concept of the «Adal Azamat», youth policy, and youth participation in public organizations and political processes.
9. National identity and symbolic politics: the role of commemorative dates and public rituals, including Republic Day, in strengthening political consolidation and civic consciousness.
10. «New Kazakhstan – Ädiletti Qazaqstan» as an analytical framework: rethinking reforms, public expectations, and prospects for further development of democracy and a just society.
Working languages of the Conference: Kazakh, Russian, English.
The full text of the paper must be submitted by January 15, 2026. The paper length should not exceed 6 pages. The publication of the conference proceedings in the form of a collected volume is planned after the conference. Requirements for the paper:
The text must be prepared in Microsoft Word. Font: Times New Roman, size 14; line spacing single; all margins 2 cm; paragraph indent 1.25 cm. Section headings must not be formatted in bold, italics, or underlined. At the beginning of the paper, the following information should be provided: title, full name of the author(s), academic degree, academic title, position, institutional affiliation, and e-mail address.
Below, after one line space, the title of the paper should be indicated in Kazakh and Russian, using font size 14. References should be indicated by numbers in square brackets in the order of citation, e.g. [1, p.15]. The reference list should be placed after the main text. The file must be saved in .doc or .docx format. The file name should correspond to the author’s surname (e.g., Aidarov.doc).
