Webinar “Artificial Intelligence: The Foundation of the Technological Revolution”

 

On October 3, 2025, at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, a webinar titled “Artificial Intelligence: The Foundation of the Technological Revolution” was held as part of the AI-SANA program, organized by the Republican Research Center for the Study of Traditional Civilizations of Central Asia. The webinar was conducted by specially invited speaker: Associate Professor of the Department of Computational Mathematics and Statistics at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, PhD Darkenbayev Daryn Kadyruly.

During the webinar, the main concepts and development stages of artificial intelligence, as well as areas of its application, were explained.

 

Special attention in the webinar was given to the possibilities of using AI in studying Kazakhstan’s rich historical heritage:

         •        Archival document indexing: digitization of national archive documents and provision of automatic search.

         •        Recognition of ancient data: recognition and translation of texts in Kazakh written in Arabic, Latin, and Old Turkic scripts.

         •        Analysis of statistical data: re-analysis of socio-economic data from the Soviet period to obtain new results.

 

For history specialists, new tasks in the era of artificial intelligence were highlighted:

         •        Integration into the educational process: using AI tools to teach students data analysis skills.

         •        Expanding historiography: integrating AI research methods into the methodology of historical science.

         •        Interdisciplinary projects: developing joint research projects in IT + history.

The webinar was held for the first time in a format specially adapted for first-year students and faculty members. Participants learned how to apply modern technologies in the humanities, including the study of historical data, cultural heritage, and social phenomena, and gained practical skills.

The Center’s Director, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Khabizhanova Gulnara Bolatovna, emphasized the importance of such webinars for future research.

           The webinar was organized by the coordinator of the DOT of the Faculty of History G.I. Mensitova, the director of the center G.B. Khabizhanova, and the senior lecturer of the Department of History of Kazakhstan A.O. Koshimova.
