Within the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 “Gender Equality” and in support of the global international campaign “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence,” the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law of the Faculty of Law at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University organized a speaking talk with first-year students.

The event was held under the guidance of the Head of the Department, Acting Professor K.R. Useinova, and PhD Doctor S.Kh. Abdullina. A representative of the Almaty City Crisis Center was invited as a guest speaker and provided students with comprehensive information on the prevention of gender-based violence, as well as legal, psychological, and social support mechanisms for victims.

During the open discussion, key legal and social aspects of gender equality, human rights protection, various forms of domestic and psychological violence, and the importance of fostering a culture of respect and zero tolerance toward violence were thoroughly addressed. Students were actively engaged, asking questions and discussing real-life situations.

Such initiatives contribute to raising legal awareness among young people, shaping an active civic position, and strengthening the professional and ethical values of future legal professionals. Participants emphasized the importance of personal responsibility and conscious civic engagement in combating gender-based violence.

This initiative promotes the values of the “Sanaly Urpaq” project, contributes to building a safe and just society, and forms part of the systematic efforts to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
