International scientific battle “Ethical Dilemmas in Pedagogical Practice” was held at al-Farabi Kazakh National University

On January 24, 2026, the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature of al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted the International Scientific Battle “Ethical Dilemmas in Pedagogical Practice” in an online format as part of the International Scientific and Educational Project Bilim Zhane Bolashak.

The organizers of the scientific battle were the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature of the Faculty of Philology of al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Saule Issaliyeva, Saule Begaliyeva) and the Department of Educational Work and Continuing Education of the City Scientific and Methodological Center for New Technologies in Education of the Almaty City Education Department (Roza Akmagambetova).

Guests of the event included PhD holder, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature Alyona Demchenko (al-Farabi Kazakh National University); Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Aliya Mombek (Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University); Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Lailo Raupova; Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Shohista Sultanova (Renaissance University, Tashkent, Uzbekistan); Master of Social Sciences Venera Kokanova (Center for Psychological Support of the Almaty City Education Department); as well as Ajzhan Kambarkyzy and Aigul Berkimbaeva, teachers of Russian language and literature at Secondary School No. 157 and School-Lyceum No. 107 in Almaty.

The scientific event brought together teams from Uzbekistan (Renaissance University and Alfraganus University), Tatarstan (Municipal Budgetary Educational Institution “Adymnar–Nizhnekamsk Polylingual Gymnasium”), and combined teams from Kazakhstan (Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Sorbonne–Kazakhstan Institute of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, S.Zh.Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University, Shakarim University, Kazakhstan-Russian Medical University, and West Kazakhstan Agrarian and Technical University).

The team moderators were Alexey Ten, Gaukhara Tokmaganbetova, and Aknur Bakytzhankyzy, second-year students of the educational programs “Pedagogy and Psychology,” “Mathematics,” and “Biology” at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University.

Experts of the international scientific battle included 1st year master’s student of Shakarim University Mikhail Sosnin (Educational Program “Music Education”); 4th year students of al-Farabi Kazakh National University and S.Zh.Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University Umida Aisarakhunova (Russian as a Foreign Language), Assel Adilbekova, and Aksaule Abdikim (Educational Program “Pharmacy”); as well as students of the 8th and 10th 10 grades of Secondary School No. 157 in Almaty - Alina Alimzhanova, Akmaral Sagymbek, Jasmine Beketbai - and Ayaru Erbolatkyzy, a student of School-Lyceum No. 207 in Almaty.

The format of the battle stood out for its originality and creative approach: the teams included school teachers and university lecturers, while the evaluation was carried out by students from their own perspective. In the first round, participants used artificial intelligence to create video presentations, which turned out to be highly creative and in tune with the spirit of the time. In the second round, the teams presented their views on pedagogical situations through case studies addressing issues of student safety and confidentiality, fairness and individual approach, objectivity in assessment, boundaries of roles within the educational process, digital ethics, mentoring, and more. In the third round, the teams conducted mini-lessons and a quiz, during which the experts demonstrated how well they had understood the topics.

According to the overall results of all rounds, the teams from Uzbekistan and Tatarstan took first and third places, while the teams from Kazakhstan placed second. As a result of the quiz, 4th year student of the educational program “Russian as a Foreign Language” Umida Aisarakhunova was awarded a second-degree diploma.
