«Opportunities for Academic Staff, STEM/IT Fields in Education, and Mentorship Programs»
On February 5, 2026, an online webinar on актуальные issues of educational development, research, and teaching was organized on the Zoom platform by Assistant Professor K.E. Nurgaliyeva of the Department of Plasma Physics, Nanotechnology, and Computer Physics. Master’s and PhD students of the educational programs 7M01501 and 8D01501 “Physics,” as well as faculty members, participated in the event.
During the webinar, opportunities for academic staff within the education system and prospects for STEM/IT fields were discussed. Issues related to supporting inclusivity in the academic community and expanding opportunities for professional growth of diverse social and professional groups were also addressed. Participants exchanged views, discussed current challenges in education, and explored ways to enhance the professional competencies of educators.
The objectives of the webinar were:
– To increase participants’ awareness of current trends in STEM/IT education;
– To broaden PhD students’ understanding of academic and professional development opportunities;
– To foster sustained interest in research and teaching activities;
The event aimed to strengthen academic collaboration and experience exchange in the scientific and educational environment, as well as to develop universal and civic competencies such as critical thinking, teamwork, communication, and active civic engagement.
The webinar aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 “Quality Education” and SDG 5 “Gender Equality,” and contributed to expanding equal opportunities in education and promoting an inclusive academic environment.
