A Spiritual Gathering Honoring the Power of the Word and the Value of Books
A meaningful and inspiring meeting dedicated to the reverence of the written word was held at the Faculty of Journalism of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The event commemorated the 95th anniversary of the outstanding figure of Kazakh poetry and herald of the national spirit, Mukagali Makatayev.
This gathering was not merely a memorial evening, but a profound spiritual event aimed at instilling in the younger generation a deep appreciation for the value of books and the sacred nature of the written word.
As part of the program, representatives of the National Book Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan delivered an engaging lecture to students. The guests подробно outlined the complex and responsible journey of a book — from its publication to its registration as part of the national heritage, preservation, and transmission to future generations. Particular attention was given to the unique role and high responsibility of the Book Chamber in safeguarding the country’s spiritual and cultural legacy.
The lecture was conducted in an open format, allowing aspiring journalists to freely share their thoughts and ask questions. For the students, it was an opportunity to explore the inner workings of the publishing world and to gain a deeper understanding of professional integrity and responsibility toward the written word. Such meetings not only shape professional perspectives but also enrich the spiritual outlook of future specialists.
The second part of the event continued in a dynamic and engaging format. Within the framework of the Tez Tap project, organized by Yerkezhan Bolatkyzy, an intellectual quiz competition was held. Divided into four teams, participants demonstrated their knowledge, quick thinking, teamwork, and ingenuity. Each question energized the audience and strengthened student engagement. At the end of the competition, the top-performing teams were awarded prizes, leaving all participants with vivid impressions and positive emotions.
This day once again confirmed that the Faculty of Journalism is not only a center of professional education, but also a space that promotes spiritual growth and national values. For the young generation inspired by Mukagali’s poetry and immersed in the world of books, this gathering became a memorable and meaningful experience.
Respect for books, integrity in words, and a genuine thirst for knowledge are strengthened precisely through such spiritual encounters.
