“Abai’s Code of Humanity and Youth Ethics”
On February 13, 2026, at 6:00 PM, a meeting titled “Abai’s Code of Humanity and Youth Ethics” was held at the Higher School of Economics and Business, Student Dormitory No. 16, within the framework of SDG indicators 3, 4, and 17 and the “Complete Person” concept. The event featured Chairman of the Bostandyk District Council of Veterans Zhangeldy Sadenuly and KazNU veteran, Doctor of Economics, Professor Ötegali Qadirgaliuly.
The purpose of the event was to strengthen the spiritual and moral education of young people based on the principles of humanity, morality, and faith reflected in the legacy of the great thinker, poet, and educator Abai Kunanbayev, and to form responsible, thoughtful individuals who embody national values.
Under the title “Abai’s Code of Humanity,” moral principles systematically presented in his “Words of Edification” and poems are displayed in information corners for KazNU students. Through his “Complete Person” concept, Abai emphasizes the unity of three core qualities — intellect, heart, and will — as the main condition for personal development. This idea remains highly relevant for educating modern youth.
The distinguished guests emphasized that in today’s era of globalization, when young people are exposed to diverse informational and cultural influences, they should adopt Abai’s teachings as their moral compass, including:
- diligence,
- pursuit of knowledge,
- justice,
- responsibility,
- modesty,
- respect for elders and kindness toward the younger generation.
They also noted that in works such as “Ғылым таппай мақтанба,” “Интернатта оқып жүр,” and “Әсемпаз болма әрнеге,” Abai warns young people against vanity, laziness, and ignorance. He interpreted humanity not merely as a personal trait but as responsibility before society. Youth ethics today should be measured not only by external manners but by inner spiritual purity. In this regard, Abai’s code of humanity serves as a spiritual guide that harmonizes national traditions with modern civilization.
In conclusion, it was emphasized that Abai’s teachings are timeless values. Relying on his moral principles in shaping youth ethics is a guarantee of preserving national identity while building a competitive, conscious, and humane society. Students expressed their sincere gratitude to the respected veterans for the meaningful meeting. The event concluded with the performance of Abai’s song “Kozimnin Karasy” and a commemorative photo session.
