On February 16, under the guidance of the academic advisor of the Department of Chinese Studies, Nurzhan Saparbaeva, the official opening ceremony of Chinese Studies Week was held at a high organizational level. The event was dedicated to the celebration of the traditional Chinese New Year — “春节” (the Spring Festival), one of the most significant and widely celebrated holidays in China.

As part of the festive program, students were introduced to the history and symbolism of the Chinese New Year, as well as its traditions and customs, including family values, festive dishes, decorations, red envelopes (“hongbao”), and wishes for prosperity and well-being. The atmosphere of the event conveyed the spirit of unity, renewal, and hope symbolized by the Spring Festival.

A concert program was organized with the participation of Rakhymzhan Asylbekov, Director of the Confucius Institute, along with institute instructors, the administration, faculty members, and students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, as well as students from Ablai Khan Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages.

The concert featured vocal, dance, and artistic performances vividly demonstrating the richness and diversity of Chinese national culture. The performances created a festive atmosphere and left the audience with bright and memorable impressions.

The event contributed to increasing students’ interest in the Chinese language and culture, as well as strengthening intercultural dialogue, mutual understanding, and academic cooperation between educational institutions.
