On February 16, 2026, faculty members of the Department of Publishing, Editing, and Design Arts выступили as expert speakers at the national roundtable seminar “Ethics and the Future of Artificial Intelligence in Printing,” organized by the College of Printmedia Technologies. The discussion brought together the college administration, representatives of universities, employers and social partners, teachers and industrial training instructors, as well as students.

The event was opened by the College Director, Abdullayeva G.A., who emphasized the importance of cooperation between universities, educational institutions, and enterprises in the context of implementing artificial intelligence both in workforce training processes and in publishing and printing technologies—from concept to print run.

Our university presented a number of engaging reports addressing the transformation of the professional education model under the influence of AI (Tlepbergen A.M.), preservation of cultural identity within artificial intelligence (Mukataeva K.M.), ethical and legal aspects in publishing and printing (Mukhamadiyeva L.I.), and workforce training for Kazakhstan’s media industry: competencies required for working with AI (Argynbayeva M.Kh.). The experts agreed that the future lies in symbiosis: AI will take over “routine” and repetitive tasks, while the author, editor, proofreader, and graphic print designer will remain the creative forces responsible for ideas and quality. In publishing and printing, AI is a powerful tool for accelerating routine processes and expanding creative possibilities. However, it is only a tool—it does not replace humans but instead requires new skills and a conscious approach.

Participants of the roundtable shared their observations and practical case studies, discussed examples of AI implementation in publishing and printing, and examined ethical and social aspects, including issues of social responsibility. The seminar became a platform for exchanging experience and establishing long-term professional connections. It marked another step in strengthening strategic partnership within the university–industry ecosystem amid digital transformation and the sustainable development of publishing and printing.
