Meaningful Session on Chinese Internet Language Was Held
On February 19, 2026, the fourth day of Chinese Studies Week continued with another session of the “Chinese Language Corner,” organized within the framework of the “Silk Road” student club at the Department of Chinese Studies. The event was conducted under the supervision of first-year academic advisor Bayserke Aizhan.
During the meeting, students explored contemporary Chinese internet vocabulary. New words and expressions widely used on social media platforms, chats, and online forums were discussed in detail, including their meanings, origins, and usage features. Chinese students shared examples of popular online slang commonly used among young people, while Kazakhstani students presented internet expressions popular among youth in Kazakhstan.
Participants not only enriched their vocabulary but also analyzed the cultural and communicative aspects of modern internet language.
The informative and interactive format of the session fostered linguistic exchange, strengthened mutual understanding, and provided deeper insight into contemporary language trends.
